On medical bills, the words “over 60 days due” may mean something different than on your VISA statement. Or not. It can takes weeks to sort out what the consumer of health care should pay as billing departments and insurers juggle charges and payments. Dr. Elisabeth Rosenthal, the journalist behind the ongoing New York Times series “Paying Till It Hurts,” spoke to The Daily Circuit’s Kerri Miller about how confusing billing practices can mean patients who are managing complex medical bills with insurers and providers face undeserved credit risk. Rosenthal recently wrote of her own experience with medical billing and spelled out the potential risk for others.
